New Thursday & Saturday Classes
Both classes are two hours long and inclusive integrated age-groups for 4- 16 year olds.
As stated on our booking form, classes this 'skills based term' will include drama games, stage craft, story-telling, puppetry, improvisation, physical theatre, script-work and plenty of confidence – building drama exercises all leading to a production next term.
Griffin Tales is bringing the magic of theatre and the art of story-telling back to young people for future generations.
Our aim is to inspire children and young people to use their imaginations more, give them a sense of community and self-worth whilst boosting their confidence, drama and literacy skills.
We do so with a combination of fun weekly drama workshops and by putting on productions of children's books. As a repertory company, we ensure all the children involved get a chance to rotate having a main part instead of the select favourites that are used time and again as leads in other children's theatre groups.
We encourage team work and public speaking, advertise within the local community, teaching the older children involved to how publicise an event, and lastly make sure all of the children and young people involved feel a sense of achievement and happiness that they are contributing to something special.
Our aim is for Griffin tales to be inclusive, encouraging children and young adults with learning difficulties or disabilities to perform. Drama and great stories are for everyone!
Our classes are tailor made to suit the needs of the students as we try to adhere to Ofsted guidelines of 1 teacher for every 8 students when possible, ensuring attention is paid to each child as an individual, whilst agreeing with the EYFS idea that 'Every child matters'.
As the main teacher Sophie has a background that includes Musical Theatre, if the students wish to include singing and dance into their productions this will always be encouraged, but if not, no problem! These classes are to get the very best out of the children and young people involved, which we believe means always ensuring they feel confident and comfortable with our class content.
Feel free to bring your favourite storybook to our classes and we might have a go at being some of your most beloved characters!
Come along and let the adventures begin
